Hello my lovelies!
Firstly, apologies for the delay in this blog post! Life has been super busy lately (new job yay), buttttt its mid-December now and very much time to start feeling festive! My December begun by being confined to my bed watching Friends for a few days with my annual pre-Christmas Cold and all I can say is that I’m glad it hit me early this year, come Christmas day I should be right as rain! I don’t know what it is about me but I always seem to get ill at this time of year, anyone else? After my flu over Christmas last year though, I was sure to get my jab back in September!
There is something ever so magical about this time of year so without further ado, here are some of my favourite festivities and things about the Season to be jolly and joyous…
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of the impracticalities brought by the snow… late buses, cancelled flights and frozen toes are not the most wonderful things in the world. But it doesn’t half make me feel Christmas-ey. We have already had several snowy spells this year, and although not present for long, it lifted spirits and added a touch of brightness that the darker months have been lacking. There is nothing more wintry than stepping in un-trodden snow, listening to it crunch under foot and gazing at how much prettier the world looks.
Another wonderful thing about the holiday season is ALL THE FOOD! Chocolates, spiced lattes, Turkey dinners and pigs in blankets are a few of my favourite festive treats. Its the season where you can eat as much as you like and not feel guilty about it. The food fills your belly and gives you the energy and warmth that is not otherwise provided. There’s nothing like a little bit of indulgence before hitting the gym in January!
So.. Advent! I have 3 advent calendars this year – two chocolate ones and a Yankee Candle tealight one. I love advent because its like having a mini Christmas every.single.day. So far my favourite Yankee Advent scents are The Perfect Tree and Winter Glow. I honestly think gifty style advent calendars are seriously good if you have no idea which (in this case scent) product to buy, you get a nice variety and its good value for money. Maybe I’ll try a cosmetic one one year!
Fireside Film Nights
what better time to snuggle up on the sofa with the Christmas Tree lights on, a candle blaring and a nice warm fire to watch a movie? You can find out what my all-time favourite Christmas films are by clicking here. So far this year I’ve watched Love Actually, The Holiday, The Muppet Christmas Carol and ELF. What’s your favourite Christmas movie? let me know in the comments!
And finally, the best thing about Christmas is undoubtedly the decorations!! The smell of fresh pine needles from the tree, the sparkles of tinsel and the array of colours and lights are truly magical. There is nothing to get you more in the mood for Christmas than putting your decorations up with your favourite Christmas Music playlist blaring away in the background. This year, I’ve even made a special effort to attempt to learn one or two tunes on my guitar… which is proving difficult as I only started learning in August! Maybe by next Christmas they’ll sound like they’re meant to.
And that commences my list of festive favourites! I really hope you enjoyed this blog post, please do let me know your festive favourites with a comment and I shall check out your blog if you have one!
Once again thank you so much for reading, peace and love xo
